ADVANCED HEALTHCARE FOR SLEEP DISORDERS
If you have trouble falling asleep, staying awake or sleeping through the night, you may be among the one-third of Americans estimated to have sleep disorders. If not treated, a sleep disorder can lead to chronic fatigue, disorientation and the inability to accomplish everyday tasks.
At Baptist Sleep Centers, specialists in neurology, pulmonary medicine, psychiatry and polysomnography (sleep studies) work together to diagnose and treat sleep disorders.
More than 100 million Americans are not getting a good night's sleep.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR SLEEP STUDY
During your sleep study, you will stay overnight in a private room. You may be scheduled for a daytime or nighttime study, depending on your normal sleep pattern and your physician's orders.
The study is a noninvasive, painless procedure during which sensors are placed on your skin to monitor your brain waves, leg movements, heart rate, body positioning and other aspects of your sleep cycle. The sensors do not cause discomfort or restrict movement.
A licensed technologist remains in the adjoining observation room monitoring your breathing effort, air flow and blood oxygen level. You will be awakened by a technologist at an agreed-upon time.
AFTER YOUR SLEEP STUDY
After the test is complete, a Board-certified physician who specializes in sleep diagnostics will read the results and determine if you have a sleep disorder. You should then make an appointment to see your physician to discuss the test results and the various treatments that are available. The Baptist Sleep Centers' amenities will allow you to freshen up and get ready for work in the morning.
